Project Description

As part of the Pilbara Mineral Pilgangoora project located 1.5 hours east of Port Hedland, the outcome for this project was to successfully deliver the construction of a 300-man camp and complete all remediation works remaining from stage 1. The facility was to beconstructed to accommodate all construction and permanent mine personnel for the life of mine.

The project was fast tracked and required swift mobilisation and demobilisation of personnel, materials, plant and equipment as well as comprehensive testing, commissioning and smooth project handover.

The initial scope of work for the camp construction encompassed:

  • relocation of Roy Hill Rail Camp 3
  • bulk and detailed earthworks
  • concrete footings and footpaths
  • central facilities buildings
  • single person quarters
  • all electrical installation, including generators, main distribution boards and electrical reticulation
  • all plumbing and sewer services
  • Stage 1 remediation works

The scope of work was further expanded to site services including:

  • the supply of raw and potable water
  • installation of waste water treatment plant
  • installation of permanent filtration systems and water quality testing
  • dust suppression for haul road
  • signage installation for haul road
  • additional civil works for carpark

The project provided opportunity for the engagement of a number of indigenous persons in security and plant and equipment operation roles.

The initial scope of work and additional scope were successfully completed two weeks ahead of schedule, on budget with zero incidents, which is testament to the experience of our personnel in exceptional project delivery.
